Adjustable Hoverboards For Kids
Remember the fun we all used to have when we were kids, cruising through the neighborhood on our bikes, tricycles, and skateboards? If you’re like us, you’ve got fond memories of spending your summer months rolling around your world on your very own set of wheels.
Well, we’ve come a long way since the days of pedaling around the neighborhood. Instead of bikes and trikes, the name of the 21st century neighborhood-cruising game is electronic personal transportation devices known as hoverboards or self-balancing scooters.
If you’ve been following the hoverboard craze since it was introduced in 2015, you know hoverboard technology has been evolving at an incredible rate. Most of that evolution was borne out of necessity since the first generation of hoverboards earned a fair bit of criticism for being less-than-safe for riders of all ages but especially for hoverboard manufacturers’ target demographic – kids.
After the stories and YouTube videos showing riders falling off their hoverboards started circulating the web, hoverboard designers got to work designing and perfecting the self-balancing technology that would propel the next generation of hoverboards from a niche gadget to a revolutionary mode of personal transportation for kids and adults alike.
When word got out that the first generation of hoverboards could (and often would) catch on fire due to cheaply made and largely untested electronic components, most hoverboard manufacturers took action to produce hoverboards that were fully inspected and certified safe by the world’s leading experts on electrical components and products – Underwriters Laboratories (UL).
Thanks to these, and many more, advancements in hoverboard technology, the younger generation of riders have access to the safest generation of hoverboards on the market at CHO Hoverboards. With that in mind, here are a few things to consider when shopping for a kids’ hoverboard:
Since all kids develop their coordination and motor reflex skills at different rates, rather than set an age limit, most hoverboard manufacturers prefer a weight limit. Most kids’ hoverboards are designed for a minimum of 40 lbs. CHO Hoverboards recommends a minimum weight of 44 lbs for any child, regardless of age. That means if your child weighs less than 44 lbs, they most likely aren’t old enough to ride a CHO Hoverboard safely.
WATCH THE WEIGHT
Kids’ hoverboards are produced with lighter weight materials and smaller tires to help with balance and ease-of-use. That means that the weight limits for kids’ hoverboards are less than their adult-friendly counterparts. If you’re looking for a hoverboard for the entire family to use, be sure to pay attention to the minimum and maximum weight requirements
GET IN (SAFETY) GEAR
As with bicycle and skateboard riding, it’s never a bad idea to instruct your child to use proper safety gear when they ride their hoverboard. This is especially true if they are beginners at hoverboard riding. Helmets, knee pads, and elbow pads are the preferred equipment to keep your children as safe as possible when riding their CHO Kids Hoverboard.
Hoverboards have come a long way in a short period of time and even though more and more adults are getting into the hoverboard craze, there’s no denying that the kids hoverboard market is still red hot. After all, there’s nothing that says “kids” more than their very own kid-friendly hoverboard from CHO Hoverboards.
